Also known as: tandem skydiving video, tandem jump video, skydive souvenir video

A video of a first-time tandem skydive, filmed by the instructor's hand camera or a separate camera flyer, and usually the jumper's keepsake.

What it means

In a tandem skydive, a first-time jumper is harnessed to an experienced instructor who handles the whole jump. Most dropzones offer a video package: either the instructor wears a camera on the wrist, a handcam, or a separate camera flyer jumps alongside and films from outside.

For the customer, the video is the proof and the memory of a once-in-a-lifetime moment. It usually covers the briefing, the plane ride, the exit, freefall, the parachute opening and the landing. Many people watch it many times and share it with friends and family.

How it works in practice

Handcam footage shows the jumper's face at close range throughout the jump, framed by the instructor's arm. Outside footage shows both jumpers and the scale of the fall. Some packages include both, which makes a richer edit.

Dropzones usually deliver raw files or a quick edited version. The raw footage often includes long plane rides and ground scenes, while the exciting part, from exit to opening, lasts under a minute.

Smiling and reacting to the camera matters. Faces are the subject; a strong reaction in freefall makes the video. Ask what format the files come in so you can keep the originals safe.

What to watch out for

Raw tandem files are often long and dull at the start. Trim the plane ride and briefing heavily, or the best minute gets lost. Viewers want the exit early, not after four minutes of seat belts.

Wind noise makes freefall audio useless; music works better. Some dropzone edits use generic tracks, so a custom cut with your own music can feel more personal and less like a template.

Store the original files somewhere safe. Download links from dropzones may expire, and a phone video app can recompress the file. A copy in a cloud backup or on a drive keeps the full quality for years.

How RawClip handles it

RawClip suits tandem footage well: upload the handcam and outside camera files, and the AI keeps faces, the exit, freefall and peak moments, removes dull plane footage and duplicates, and cuts one highlight to the beat of the music.

Skip the editing. Keep the best moments.

Upload your raw footage and get a finished highlight in 4K and 1080p - no timeline, no editing skills.
