Wingsuit footage

Also known as: wingsuit flying video, wingsuit POV, proximity flying footage

Video from wingsuit flights, where jumpers glide forward at high speed in a suit with fabric wings, from aircraft or as BASE jumps near terrain.

What it means

A wingsuit adds fabric between the arms and body and between the legs, turning a falling human into a glider. Wingsuit pilots travel forward much more than they fall, covering long distances before deploying a parachute. Flights start from aircraft, or from cliffs as a form of BASE jumping.

Wingsuit footage is some of the most spectacular action video there is: the ground rushing by, mountains sliding past, and in proximity flying, terrain only meters away. It is also the most dangerous discipline to film, and the footage only exists because pilots spent hundreds of jumps building skill first.

How it works in practice

Most wingsuit footage comes from helmet cameras, usually mounted on top or the side of the helmet for a clear view forward. Some pilots add a second camera looking back at the suit to show the wings and the landscape behind.

Group flights are filmed by a camera flyer in the formation. Clips from several pilots can later be combined into one edit, a classic case of multicam editing.

Record at high frame rate and full resolution. The speed of wingsuit flight means detail matters; a sharp, smooth frame makes the landscape readable.

What to watch out for

Cameras must never compromise safety. Mounts must be snag-free, and many communities require significant experience before a camera is worn. Wingsuit and BASE accidents are often fatal, and no shot is worth a risk added for the camera.

Wind noise covers the audio entirely, so expect to use music. The flight itself can be monotonous: long sections with similar views need trimming, often down to a few of the closest passes and the opening.

Horizon and orientation shift constantly, and rolling shutter wobble from wind buffeting can show up on rigid helmet mounts. Damping and higher frame rates help, and the steadiest flights give the cleanest footage of the whole sequence.

How RawClip handles it

RawClip turns long wingsuit flights into a tight highlight: the AI keeps peak moments, terrain fly-bys and faces, removes repetitive sections, and cuts everything to the beat. Footage is deleted after rendering and never used to train models.
