Seamless loop
Also known as: perfect loop, loop edit, infinite loop video
A short video edited so its last frame flows into its first, making it replay endlessly without a visible jump, popular on short-form platforms.

What it means
A seamless loop is a clip whose end connects smoothly to its beginning. When it replays, which short-form platforms do automatically, viewers do not notice the restart, and many watch it several times before realizing it is a loop at all.
Loops matter because short-form feeds count replays. A clip that loops well can rack up more watch time than its length suggests, which helps retention and reach. In action video, loops work for repetitive, circular motion: a skater carving a bowl, a surfer turning, a drone orbit around a peak.
How it works in practice
Look for footage that naturally returns to the same state: the same position, angle and light at start and end. An orbit, a lap or a repetitive trick are ideal.
Cut both ends at matching moments, for example where the subject is in the same place in the frame. A short cross-dissolve of a few frames can hide small differences, much like a match cut joins two similar shots.
Music is the hardest part. Choose a section that loops musically, ending on a phrase that leads back into the start, or use a tempo whose beat count fits the clip length exactly. Keep loops short, usually a few seconds to around fifteen.
What to watch out for
Visible jumps in light, horizon or position break the illusion, and automatic color adjustments that differ between the start and end make it worse. Even a small shift draws the eye at the restart.
Audio that cuts mid-note gives the loop away, even when the picture is perfect. Fade or match the audio.
Loops built from tricks with an obvious start and end, such as a single jump, rarely work, because viewers see where the action begins. Choose continuous motion instead. Platforms also show a brief interface flash or progress bar reset on replay, so test the loop inside the app, not just in your editor.
How RawClip handles it
RawClip creates full highlights rather than short loops: the AI picks the best moments and cuts them to the beat at the length you choose. You can cut a loop from the 4K or 1080p MP4 in any editor afterwards.
