Vented helmet strap
Also known as: vented helmet mount, bike helmet strap mount
A strap mount that threads through the vents of a bike helmet to hold an action camera on top, without adhesive and easy to move between helmets.

What it means
Many cycling and mountain bike helmets have open vents across the top. A vented helmet strap threads through those vents and buckles tight, with a mounting plate on top for the camera. It avoids adhesive, which often does not stick well to the curved, textured shells of bike helmets.
The result is a high POV view that shows the trail ahead and some of the terrain around, similar to other helmet mounts. Because it is removable, you can move it between helmets or take it off between rides.
It is one of the most common ways mountain bikers film their rides, and it works on most open-vent trail helmets.
How it works in practice
Thread the strap through vents near the center and front of the helmet, pull it tight and check that the plate does not wobble. Mount the camera low and slightly forward to keep the center of gravity close to the helmet and the view looking down the trail.
A wide lens and strong stabilization suit the helmet position. Tilt the camera so the horizon sits in the upper third and the trail fills most of the frame.
Combine helmet footage with a chest or seatpost angle for variety in the edit.
What to watch out for
A high camera adds leverage in a crash and can catch on branches. Some helmet makers advise against mounting anything on top. Weigh the footage against the risk, and consider a chest mount on technical trails.
Loose straps let the camera shake and tilt. Re-tighten before every ride, since straps stretch over time and in heat. A wobbling camera also wears the vents over a season.
Helmet POV can feel less dramatic than a lower view, because the camera sees from above the handlebar. Mix angles to keep the edit interesting, and use the high view for line choice and scenery.
How RawClip handles it
Helmet clips from trail rides often include long climbs, stops and chats at junctions. Upload the full ride without trimming, and RawClip keeps the fast, flowing sections and cuts them into one highlight.
