Battery life
Also known as: runtime, recording time per battery
How long an action camera can record on one charge. It depends on resolution, frame rate, temperature, screens and wireless features, not just the battery.

What it means
Manufacturers quote runtime under friendly test conditions, usually a mid-range setting at room temperature with screens and wireless off. Real use is often shorter. High resolutions and frame rates, strong stabilization, bright screens, GPS, Wi-Fi and cold air all drain the battery faster.
For action cameras, battery life is usually counted in tens of minutes of continuous recording, not hours. That is why riders carry spares, why features like QuikCapture exist, and why the same camera can feel fine in summer and frustrating on a winter morning when the same battery lasts half as long.
How it works in practice
Turn off what you do not use: GPS if you do not need telemetry, wireless if you are not connected, the front screen when you are not vlogging, and voice control in loud places. Lower the screen brightness and set it to sleep quickly. Record only the parts you need instead of leaving the camera running all day.
Carry spares and rotate them. Keep them warm in an inside pocket, charge them every evening with a dual charger, and label them so you can spot a weak one. Cold-tuned batteries like the Enduro help in winter, and a power bank can top up between runs.
What to watch out for
Batteries age. After a few hundred cycles they hold noticeably less, and the battery indicator may drop suddenly from half to empty. Test old batteries before an important trip and retire the weak ones.
Running the camera from external power can extend recording but may increase heat, and in some models it does not fully replace the battery. Also note that very long single takes can create huge files, and the camera may split them into chapters anyway, so recording in shorter clips is rarely a loss. Shorter clips are also easier to copy, back up and review at the end of the day.
How RawClip handles it
Short clips across several batteries work perfectly with RawClip. Upload everything from the day in one order, including chapters split by the camera, and the AI cuts out the dead time to build your highlight.
