Trip film
Also known as: trip edit, tour film
An edit spanning a whole journey rather than a single session, cut as one continuous piece with a beginning, a middle and an end.

What it means
A trip film covers a week in Indonesia or ten days in a van. The unit is the journey, which means the material arrives mixed, uneven and unevenly shot across several locations.
It is the long relative of a Session edit. One records a day; a trip film has to make a week feel like one story. The ambition is different in kind rather than simply in degree.
That requires structure a session edit does not. Arrival, the middle, the best day, departure, which is a Story arc rather than a ranking of clips by merit.
How it works in practice
Sections are the only way it holds. Three or four passages with their own locations and light give a viewer the sense of actually travelling somewhere. Length without sections is duration rather than structure.
Texture carries the joins. A Travel montage between riding sections does work a cut cannot, and it is where the quiet material finally earns a place in the edit.
Audio variety matters as much as picture. Two or three tracks rather than one, because a Music bed stretched across five minutes stops being noticed by anybody at all.
What to watch out for
Material is almost never enough. A week produces a handful of strong moments per location, and spreading those across five minutes requires everything else to be worth watching. The ratio is unforgiving at that length.
Chronology is tempting and usually wrong. The journey happened in one order; the film works in another, and Sequence order has to be decided rather than inherited from the calendar.
It is where projects get abandoned. The scope is large enough that Editing burnout is the normal outcome, which is why a trip frequently produces several session edits and no trip film at all.
How RawClip handles it
A single upload produces a sequence from that session, which is the short form of this. A trip film is built from several such results plus the texture between them, and assembling those into one piece stays a decision somebody makes by hand.
